Under the 300's Hood

The engine that powers the 300 is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, but when the 300S has this engine it gives out 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. The V6 is matched with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive though the 300 comes with the option for all-wheel drive. For the performance-minded driver, the 300 can be equipped with a 5.7-liter V8 engine. It is rated at 363 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque and comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is also optional with the V8 engine for those who want it. The V8 engine gives the 300 even better acceleration than it already had. Using Fuel Saver Technology systems that deactivate four of the eight cylinders when the 300 is cruising on the highway, the Chrysler 300 benefits from improved efficiency. There is an available Sport Mode that increased accelerator pedal response, raises shift transmission points, and calibrates the electric power steering and the paddle shifters.
